Frequently asked questions
What size should my og:image be?
The recommended size is 1200×630 pixels (1.91:1 ratio). This displays well on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and WhatsApp. Keep the file size under 8MB and use JPG, PNG, or WebP format. Important content should be in the centre, away from edges that platforms may crop.
How do I test my Open Graph tags?
Use the Facebook Sharing Debugger (developers.facebook.com/tools/debug), LinkedIn Post Inspector (linkedin.com/post-inspector), or Twitter Card Validator (cards-dev.twitter.com/validator). These tools show a preview and flag any issues with your tags.
What is the difference between og:title and the <title> tag?
The <title> tag is shown in browser tabs and search engine results. The og:title is shown when your page is shared on social media. They can be different — social titles can be more casual or attention-grabbing while SEO titles are keyword-focused.
Do Open Graph tags affect SEO?
Not directly — Google doesn't use OG tags for ranking. However, better-looking social cards improve click-through rates from social shares, driving more traffic. More traffic and engagement signals can indirectly benefit your SEO over time.

What are Open Graph tags?
Open Graph tags are HTML meta tags that control how your page is displayed when shared on social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Slack. Without them, platforms pick arbitrary content from your page — often an unrelated image or the first line of text. OG tags give you full control over the title, description, and image shown in every share.
Open Graph vs Twitter Cards
Open Graph is the standard used by Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and most platforms. Twitter/X has its own Twitter Card system, though it falls back to OG tags if Twitter tags are missing. For maximum compatibility, include both — our generator outputs both sets of tags simultaneously.
