Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum connection time?

Each airport publishes a Minimum Connection Time (MCT). We use international MCTs as a baseline and add extra time for terminal changes.

Can I leave the airport on a short layover?

Generally only if you have at least 3–4 hours of free time after the connection buffer, and you have the right visa status for that country.

About layover calculator

Layover Calculator

How to use the layover calculator

Use this layover calculator to find out how long your connection time is between two flights and whether you have enough time to make your connection. Enter your arrival time and departure terminal, and your next flight's departure time. The tool flags tight connections based on minimum connection times. Free and instant.

How the layover calculator works

The layover calculator subtracts your inbound arrival time from your outbound departure time to compute the total layover duration. It compares this against minimum connection time benchmarks for domestic and international transfers. All calculations run locally in your browser with no flight data uploaded.

How to interpret results

A green status means your layover should be safe; amber or red means you are at risk of missing your connection and should contact your airline.
