Why are hyphens preferred over underscores?

Google treats hyphens as word separators, making "my-blog-post" equivalent to "my blog post" for search. Underscores join words — "my_blog_post" reads as a single token. Hyphens are the SEO standard.

Should I remove stop words from slugs?

It depends. Short slugs (/build-react-app) are cleaner and easier to share. Full slugs (/how-to-build-a-react-app) match the original title more closely and can help with long-tail keyword matching.

How are accented characters handled?

Accented characters are normalized and stripped: é → e, ñ → n, ü → u. This produces ASCII-only slugs that work in all URLs without encoding.
