Formula for converting terabytes into gigabytes
The unit table behind the converter relates terabytes and gigabytes through one ratio, and that ratio works out to 1,000. In other words, 1 TB = 1,000 GB.
The ratio works in both directions: multiply by 1,000 to go from terabytes to gigabytes, or multiply by 0.001 to go from gigabytes back to terabytes.
Quick lookup: terabytes in gigabytes
A set of 12 TB amounts is converted to GB below, using the same function as the converter at the top of the page.
| Terabytes (TB) | Gigabytes (GB) |
|---|---|
| 0.01 | 10 |
| 0.05 | 50 |
| 0.1 | 100 |
| 0.25 | 250 |
| 0.5 | 500 |
| 1 | 1,000 |
| 2 | 2,000 |
| 5 | 5,000 |
| 10 | 10,000 |
| 25 | 25,000 |
| 50 | 50,000 |
| 100 | 100,000 |
Values in the GB column are shown the way the converter shows them, with a limited number of significant digits.
Worked examples for terabytes to gigabytes
With 0.012 TB, the multiplication by 1,000 produces 12 GB once rounded the way the widget rounds.
A second amount, 0.0075 terabytes, becomes 7.5 gigabytes. Converting that result in the opposite direction recovers about 0.0075 TB.
Example 3. Starting from the other unit, 85,000 GB is 85 TB, since 1 GB = 0.001 TB.
The reverse: gigabytes to terabytes
To start from gigabytes instead, open GB to TB. For that direction 1 GB = 0.001 TB, and its reference table is built around gigabytes as the input.
For other combinations, the Data Storage Converter offers every unit in one pair of dropdowns.

Frequently asked questions
How many GB make up 1 TB?
One terabyte equals 1,000 gigabytes. The relationship is linear, so 10 TB is 10,000 GB and 100 TB is 100,000 GB.
What is 1 GB in TB?
There are 0.001 terabytes in one gigabyte. That is the inverse of 1,000, and 10 gigabytes come to 0.01 terabytes.
How do I convert 0.065 TB to GB?
Using 1,000 as the multiplier, 0.065 terabytes equals 65 gigabytes.
How does the converter round results?
The widget calculates with ordinary floating-point numbers and only rounds what it displays. Results of 1 or more show up to 10 significant digits, results below 1 show up to 8, and results from 1,000 upward show up to 6 decimal places with thousands separators. As an example, 0.123456789 TB displays as 123.456789 GB and 1,234.5678 TB displays as 1,234,567.8 GB.
Where does the TB to GB result come from?
Behind the scenes, terabytes and gigabytes are each tied to the same base unit by a stored factor. The ratio of those factors, 1,000, is what turns an TB value into a GB value.
What is the reverse of TB to GB?
Reversing the pair: multiply by 0.001, or equivalently divide by 1,000. The page titled "GB to TB" covers it, or you can press the swap button in the widget above. Example: 25 GB = 0.025 TB.
